NOTE: My editing and proofreading calendar fills up fast, so it is highly recommended to contact me as far in advance as possible to ensure the greatest likelihood of getting a slot.
Please note that due to personal triggers, I will not edit or proofread any novels that contain dubious consent or non-consent sex scenes or any stalker romances. (I'm perfectly fine with rape, sexual assault, and stalking being portrayed in a negative manner, but not when it's supposed to be erotic in nature.)
I aim to make quality editing affordable for everyone, including authors who are just starting out and do not have a large budget for their books. I know a lot of us are strapped for cash, especially in these crazy times, so I'm more than happy to work with you on a payment plan that won't break the bank.
I offer two types of editing: developmental and copy/line. With developmental editing, you'll get notes on plot, structure, and flow of the story and we'll work on making your story as strong as it can be. With copy/line editing, you'll get correction of grammar, punctuation, and sentence structure and suggestions for wording, but no notes on the plot or structure of the novel unless I notice something extremely glaring.
I do have references and examples of published books I've edited, which I'm happy to provide on request.
To make sure we're a good match, I will do a free sample edit up to 4k words, from any part of the book you wish. Please allow 2-3 days turnaround for sample edit.
PRICING IS AS FOLLOWS (RATES ARE ROUNDED UP TO THE NEAREST 10K):
Single Pass Copy/Line Edit (no developmental editing): $20 per 10k words
Double Pass Copy/Line Edit (no developmental editing): $30 per 10k words
Developmental Manuscript Assessment (no copy/line editing): $20 per 10k words
Single Pass Developmental and Copy/Line Edit: $30 per 10k words
Full Manuscript Assessment and Double Pass Copy/Line Edit (Three Passes Total): $45 per 10k words
Rush Jobs: Jobs that are booked with less than a week's notice OR jobs that are sent to me more than two days after your scheduled appointment date will be charged a rush fee of an additional $10 per 10k words.
Grammar/Punctuation: I am from the U.S. and edit based on U.S. English unless you specify U.K./Australian English when you book your slot, and I adhere to the Chicago Manual of Style and the Merriam-Webster Dictionary.
All prices are in U.S. dollars.
Please note that although I am thorough, it is impossible to guarantee a completely error-free manuscript. I do recommend also booking a proofreader to be sure your manuscript is as close to perfect as possible.
